History
Air suspension
The
Volvo ECS (Electronically Controlled Suspension) gives you high comfort
and protects your cargo. The system automatically adjusts itself so
that the truck remains at a constant height and compensates for unevenly
distributed loads.
The manual height control makes it easier to
adjust the load platform's height to match that of the cargo bay. The
system can even be programmed with a number of alternative loading bay
heights.
ECS is available in two versions: all-round air
suspension for all the truck's wheels and rear-only air suspension for
the rear suspension.
Leaf springs
The Volvo
FH16 can be suited with leaf springs of parabolic or conventional type.
Conventional leaf springs are sometimes used on construction trucks, for
good stability and when high axle weights can be expected. Parabolic
leaf springs are mostly used in front axle suspensions and they can be
combined with air, parabolic or conventional rear suspension.
